Don't Email Your PowerPoints: Share Them!

A new service called SlideShare is becoming quite popular for sharing PowerPoint presentations via the web. The service lets you upload your presentations to the web, where they can be shared publicly with the world or privately with those you choose.

Once uploaded to the SlideShare service, you can then embed the presentations right onto your web site - something which makes it easy to share information with your customers if you're running a business or provides an easy way to share slides with your friends if you have a personal web site or blog.

In addition to PowerPoint files, you can also use SlideShare to upload PDFs to the web.

The files can be as large as 50 MB in size, which is a lot more than competitors offer, like 10 MB at Zoho Show, for example. Plus, it's much easier to share your presentations than try to compress them into an email.

Use Windows Photo Gallery to Share Your Photos

There are some great reasons to take your Windows Vista laptop on vacation with you, and, no, it's not to check your business email, you work-a-holics! Instead, travelers, after an enjoyable day of and sightseeing, can easily and quickly share their favorite photos of the day with their family and friends using Vista's new Photo Gallery. So you don't bog down recepient's inboxes with large attachment, the Photo Gallery lets you automatically resize your pictures when you send them without changing the size or quality of the photo saved on your computer. To use Photo Gallery, just follow these three easy steps:

1. Click the Start button, click All Programs, then click Windows Photo Gallery.
2. Click the picture you want to send & then click Email.
3. Select the size you want from the list, and then click Attach.

Vista How-To: Publicly sharing your media library

While there seems to be a new social networking web site/service every week, it’s important to remember that publicly-shared music collections are the original gangster in the game of meeting fellow keyboard jockeys. Look over the shoulder of any college student, and you’ll find that every student with spare disk space has titled their collections with their screen name and room number. Windows Media Player does enable this glorious functionality, but as always the right switches to flip can sometimes be hard to find.

The Media Sharing window can be found either in Library->Media Sharing from within Media Player, under Sharing and Discovery in the Network and Sharing Center (yes we know that’s a mouthful). Once you’re there, be sure to hit the Settings button, where you can name your collection appropriately and specify what types of media are made available. Be sure to check the Allow new devices… checkbox, as this is the difference between being an inviting member of the ear-goggles society.

First off, you guys bring a great perspective into the gamer exclusivity topic. Great comments. I tend to bounce back and forth on the subject and I appreciate your opinions. But Ted, let's be real...how awesome would it be to play Mario on the 360? :) I see your point though. Anyway, I had a chance to play Battlefield 2142 with some of the best FPS players in the world. Needless to say, um I died a lot. But the game is of course. Awesome. Great air and land battles and getting behind the battlewalker in 2142 was a blast. It's coming out in mid-october so if you salivate over the series like I do. Pick it up. Would love to get insight into what you guys think of this series and which battlefield was your favorite?
