New Video Series Shows the Tech in Virtual Earth

There’s a new video series available on our sister site, Channel 9, that delves into the tech behind Virtual Earth. The series is called “Behind the Maps,” and it will show you how the data and imagery in Virtual Earth goes through the whole process from camera to web and beyond. You’ll learn about the high-resolution cameras used – like the incredible UltraCam, how imagery is captured from a plane, how imagery is processed, and more. Of course, you’ll get to learn more about the Virtual Earth platform itself and its 3D control that delivers the imagery to your browser window. The first video is up now and will feature an up-close look at the UltraCam – check it out!

With Microsoft's software driving an online videoconference session, and the RoundTable camera placed atop a conference table, remote participants will see the face or faces of the active speakers as they assume the floor. Participants who may grow weary of the angle changes during heated arguments may prefer the optional panorama view. Here the Unified Communications Group explain that the unit has 6 cameras and 6 microphones and its a USB device that integrates naturally with LiveMeeting. We're really just making it alot easier for all of us to work from home :)

Rockin music video shot completely on a Nokia N93 Camera Phone!

The new video for "Oceans" from the "Fresh Wine for the Horses" album by former Catherine Wheel lead singer Rob Dickinson is shot completely on a Nokia N93 camera phone. It's unbelievable how great it looks! The video is directed by Mike Hodgkinson who I spoke to on the phone- as he filmed his end of the interview on the same Nokia n93 camera phone. By the way, when you hear "released today" in the video... umm... just ignore that. I got a bit excited by the whole update, so I'm pushing this video out earlier than I was supposed to!
