Adam Kinney just posted on his blog that he created a way for you to add an Xbox Gamercard to your web site. The gamercard uses both Silverlight for its interactivity, data set stack, and portability and the Xbox Gamertag Data Service. To add it to your web site, you only need to enter your gamertag in the form on this site and then copy-and-paste the resulting code to your site.

There's also a "Friends Watch" Vista Sidebar Gadget available from Adam, found here, which lets you track when your friends are online and what they've been playing.

XNA Game Studio really does give you all you need. Not only do they give you the tools to make the games that you want, but they also give you the training and tutorials to give you the skills to do it. I ran across one of their many game design challenges to see exactly how it happens, who can enter- and of course, where you can find out when one is coming near you. Take a peek here at the latest event in San Francisco, and then I hope to see you at the next one!

Happy Halo Map Pack Day! As of today, Halo 3's formerly $10 set of maps, the Heroic Map Pack, is now free. This add-on lets you add new battle zones to the Halo 3 game. The pack consists of the Rat's Nest, Standoff, and Foundry maps, where players are provided with things like labyrinthine mazes (Rat's Nest) and editable objects that can be used to create a custom battlefield (Foundry). The next series of maps, the Legendary Map Pack, will be available on April 15th for 800 Microsoft Points.

This year at MIX, amongst the seminars and future of the web discussions there was an intense battle of the bands. The Rock Bands. Friends and colleagues grouped together and formed the best possible Rock Band they could and entered the tournament. Take a look at some of the highlights and see who finally ends up as the Rock Band Winner.

Nokia is sponsoring a contest for Xbox Live theme builders, which gives artists the opportunity to have their work offered through the Microsoft Xbox Live Marketplace. Xbox 360 themes let you change what you see on your screen in the Xbox Live Marketplace. Some Xbox 360 themes are free and some cost Microsoft Points to use. To get involved with the contest, artists can upload their work to www.my360theme.com, where the themes will then go through an internal quality review process before the public gets to vote on them. Along with having a theme published, the winner will also receive a 42-inch HDTV, surround sound stereo, Xbox 360 games, Blu-ray player, and Nokia N81 phone.

You may not have heard of them, but Chair Entertainment has been bringing you great games for years now. Perhaps you've played Undertow on XBOX Live arcade? If not, you should- especially since it was just named XBLA Game of the Year by Official Xbox Magazine.  And there's more good news! The expansion pack, "Path of the Elect" was just released. The BIG NEWS though, is about Chair Entertainment's next big thing: Empire. They decided to kick off their franchise by commissioning a book, Empire, written by Orson Scott Card. If you're not convinced yet that Chair is a company that should be on your radar, then watch this clip to learn about them also acquiring the interactive rights to Orson Scott Card's : Enders Game. And a few other juicy surprises as well.....

Calvin Toren wasn't satisfied with the Gamercard Vista Sidebar Gadgets out there, saying "I've found 10 different Gamercard gadgets currently available. With the exception of [one], none of them used the official Gamercard." Luckily for Calvin, he had the skills to just make his own gadget! With his, the "RealGamercard" gadget, you have the ability to change which Gamertag is displayed, change the size of your Gamercard, and change how often it gets updates. You can even have multiple cards on the screen at once in multiple sizes. If you want to fit the gadget into the sidebar, just reduce the size to 70% and it will fit just fine. It's a great gadget for gamers!

There are many happy Zune owners right about now. At GDC last week Microsoft announced that XNA Game Studios games can now also be made for the Zune. If you didn't know, XNA is a game development toolkit available to "do it yourself" enthusiasts for about $99 / year. You don't need to create your own games, simply take advantage of XNA games created by the user base. The XNA team also made some cool announcements about Xbox LIVE community games. I got all the good dirt- take a look.

Xbox Live Marketplace has always been the place to be for all your gaming needs, but it's about to get even better.
There are great games coming in 2008, Grand Theft Auto, Splinter Cell Conviction, Halo Wars, Resident Evil 5, and of course the fan favorite Burnout 3 (download the demo now), Xbox Live Marketplace is more than the service that connects you to your friends, it's the way to play the games before they ship.

Your Xbox will now be the destination for all things entertainment.

Each year Microsoft's connected entertainment vision gets better and better. By now, you've seen the broader picture - Media Centers in the living room, Extenders in the bedroom, Xbox's in the playroom, Windows Mobile on the hip, and Sync in the car. Making all this work, and work more seamlessly in the future, is no small task of course, and the person charged with making it all work is Robbie Bach.

Robbie invited us over this morning to talk about what we can expect from the Connected Entertainment experience in 2008 as well as what's coming in the future (yes, Surface computers in your house.) The first digital decade is just the start.

I ran in to Major Nelson earlier grabbing take-out at Pasta Ya Gotcha. I'm surprised he noticed me at all since he was twittering, checking email, and talking on a conference call all at the same time. Turns out there's been a few problems on the Xbox Live network today. Sounded like everyone on the Xbox Live team were working on it though. Larry's site has been up and down tonight from all the traffic, but for the latest information you should keep an eye on his Twitter feed which is updated every few minutes.

It's always a heart breaker when you can't get on to play some friends at COD4 but bare with these folks, holiday success comes with a price (working on a Saturday night, missing a great football game, and a fat Inbox.) It's amazing how hard some people work so the rest of us can have fun. :) Looks like the worst is behind them but still some issues.

Robbie Bach and Kevin Johnson hosted an event for Microsoft employees showing us some of the products that will be available this season and let us sit in and talk to them afterwards. The presentation was over an hour long and it really didn't even scratch the surface of all the new products Microsoft plays a operating system role in. There were high-performance desktops, laptops, phones, Xbox games, and the Ford Sync. One product that caught my eye was the Samsung digital picture frame which is able to pull photos from RSS feeds and Windows Live. Very nice!

If you're hurting for cash but dying for something new to play, you can get a free game from the Xbox Live Arcade called Yaris. Yes, Yaris is the name of a new car from Toyota. Yes, the game is a promotional tool for the vehicle. But hello, it's free. And for that price, it's not half-bad. The game is a racing action game where you drive your Yaris (of course) up walls, through tubes, and upside-down while shooting at obstacles & enemies. You're also collecting coins so you can buy better weapons and upgrade your ride with better shielding and vehicle types. The game has 3 car models, 8 tracks, achievements, and you can play online with your friends on Xbox LIVE. Not bad for a freebie.

Gizmodo has an interesting post that mentions a couple points often overlooked about Windows Home Server. Windows Home Server only backs up one instance of a file that appears across your system. So think of it this way, if you are using WHS to backup your 5 Dell XPS laptops (lucky you), each freshly formatted with Vista and holding all of your MP3s, the amount of storage required to back them up isn't going to be much bigger than the amount of space required to backup one of them. Read more about the disk system here (pdf). Another cool feature with Home Server is sharing the printers across your home network. Seems like I could run a small Kinko's out of my house and I was always at the wrong computer to print what I needed; text at the photo printer, pictures at the laser printer. Now all my printers are shared across the network - even available to visitors.

In the Gizmodo comments, DJ Anakin asks: "My plan for the near future has been to build a computer running Windows Media Center, then use it as a NAS/backup machine. I plan to be able to rip all my DVD's to the machine then just watch them on the TV. Essentially it would be an expanded HTPC. Will Windows Home Server be able to play media ala WMC?"

Media Center and Home Server are two distinct products with two different uses, but they work together. Your Media Center PC can play content from your Windows Home Server, and any extender can be used to play content from either (BTW: out of all the V2 extenders to date, the best value is the Xbox Arcade - with HDMI output.) Of course you could always plug a USB TV Tuner to the HP Home Server (but I wouldn't do it).

Remember, Windows Home Server is available as an OS so you can build whatever you want. You might want to use your Home Server for security with a 4/8/12/16 port DVR card to capture from cameras around your house. Just make sure the capture device works with Windows 2000, the supporting foundation under Home Server. While the HP Home Server doesn't have a monitor output jack on it, you might build one with this in mind. My main TV at home has a VGA input on it, I could hide my Home Server behind it, use a Media Center wireless keyboard, and basically create what DJ Anakin is talking about.

The launch of Halo 3 clearly was the biggest thing in entertainment history since sliced bread. Was sliced bread entertaining? Anyway, our Xbox community team (you probably know them from the GamerScore Blog-Casts) decided to reach out into the sea of Halo fans and pluck out a few choice members for the opportunity of a lifetime. Well before Halo 3 hit the masses...these folks hit Halo 3. Watch and see how dreams really do come true.

It's Friday so it's time to check in with my boys from The GamerScore Blog. This week we reflected on what is now known as the biggest launch in entertainment history: Halo 3. On top of that we threw out some Tokyo Game Show goodness and took a look at what we have coming out on the horizon. Oh- and we also introduced Nelson Rodriguez to the cast and if I do say so myself, he's pretty darn amusing :)

I couldn't NOT go to the launch event for Halo 3 right here in Bellevue, Washington at our nearby Best Buy. Honestly, I was overwhelmed. There were hundreds of screaming Halo fans, free stuff, food, music, and PLENTY of Gamer Fuel. On top of all that excitement I got to talk to legendary football quarterback Warren Moon, Bungie community leader Brian Jarrard, Microsoft's global marketing Maestro Jeff Bell - and the man himself Bill Gates even came out to run the register on the first copy Halo 3 sold there. Plus, I got to mess with fanboys! Good Times!

My name is Brian Johnson and I'm a new blogger On10. I'm a new enthusiast evangelist working the East Coast of the United States. Like many of the other enthusiast evangelists who post here, I'll be traveling around with AV gear doing stories on technology, gaming, music, and everything in between.

A little bit about me... I've been with Microsoft for 8 years, most recenly as a product manager for Office for Mac. I'm the co-author of a number of books including Zune for Dummies and Xbox 360 for Dummies. I've got a wife and three kids and we live in Orlando, Florida.

While my home is in Florida, my home base is going to be NYC.

I keep a personal blog and that I post to fairly regularly. Aside from this initial post, I plan to keep the posts that I add here content focused. Here are the URLs for my other blogs and feeds:
