Microsoft Office for Mac 2008

In celebration of Steve Job's announcement of MacBook Air...Microsoft just released Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 yesterday.  We're spreading the MAC love.  The Home and Student Edition includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Entourage 2008. Open XML file compatibility allows Macs and Windows-based computers to enjoy compatible Office-to-Office communications.  Here is a quick hit of some of the features.

  • PowerPoint 2008's new Object Palette makes it more simple than ever to see and choose all your shapes, art, symbols and pictures; designer themes and custom designs make your presentations look sensational
  • Excel 2008 now supports more than 16,000 columns and more than one million rows to compile enormous amounts of data into meaningful reports and thought-provoking graphs

ZOMG!  It's about time, too.  I have Office X and Office 2004 for my Macs...though I'll admit to never actually installing 2004.  I never liked the flat GUI in 2004.  Subsequent updates to X have slowly transformed its GUI into something closer to 2004, so it no longer matters anymore.

I'll be purchasing 2008 just as soon as its available.  I was seriously impressed by the previews following your Vista Week early last year.  I have Office 2007 for Vista on my PC, but I despise the performance.  Why must office initialize and compile components every-time I boot it up?  For every step forward Microsoft makes in updating software, they take 3 steps back in performance.
