Crackdown baby!  There's a lot of anticipation about this one.  Who thought collecting orbs could be so exciting.  It's a third person perspective action game which takes place in Pacific City which has been overrun by three different gangs.  You of course are genetically enhanced and inserted into Pacific City because the cops have given up.   Created by Dave Jones, the brains behind Grand Theft Auto and Developed by RealTime Worlds

I will (probably) be getting this game (and not just because of Pimps At Sea...I mean, Halo 3 beta =)

The Crackdown demo was cool.

I think the game is pretty cool, I've been playing the demo a bit. I'm not positive that I'll pick it up yet though. I was definitely going to get it for the Halo 3 beta, but just yesterday I received word that I was one of the 13,333 people accepted to participate thanks to the Phase 2 'Rule of 3' program. Halo 3 FTW!

The demo is so addictive.. even if it's got a time-bomb on it. It made me go back and hit Saints Row a bit more.. if only to leave me wanting. Crackdown was a total surprise. I wasn't really anticipating this game until I played the demo.

What's cool about Crackdown to me is that it takes some of the best elements of GTA and, of all things, Hulk (Ultimate Destruction) and puts them together into a great game. If you've played HUD, you know what I mean. The orbs, the power-up, the jumping, super strength and free roaming aspects of GTA.

Crack Down! hehehe.  Yeah, I think it works better as one word also.

I've been following it for a while now...at least since I heard it was coming from the creative genius of GTA and being developed by the same Scottish team that put together the Killzone demo at E305.

I downloaded the demo as soon as it was up on live, but it took some time before I really started to enjoy it through exploiting the abilities and the open world.  Hazumi was right; it feels a lot like HUD, but with a unique techno cell-shaded style to it.

I'm not entirely sure if I want to get though.  The demo left me wanting more, and from what I've read, so will the full game.  I like the game world, but it seems a little unoriginal.  A greater variety of vehicles including boats and motorcycles would have been nice and the game is just screaming for split screen co-op play.

Thanks for giving us the details and Happy Valentine's day, my goddess of gamming.  All my best. Wink
I agree. The demo was fun, but I'm just not sure I want to shell out 60 bucks for it. It's definitely better than a lot of games though. To me it's probably a great rental.
Crackdown is a rental indeed.  Now GRAW 2 will be worthy of $60 I think.
A friend and I had a lot of fun (well, as much as the time limit allowed us) with the demo and I'd played through it solo and thought it might be worth picking up. It got good marks in EGM, not so much in OXM. Multiplayer could be cool and is something that I'd love to see work its way into an expansion. Side missions other than "kill the gang leader" would be great. I didn't try any races but I can see that being old after a while too. I'll be picking it up (even if it didn't have the Halo3 beta) to tide me over until GH2 drops for the 360. Smiley
I'll take a blood red boa.
Brilliant feature Tina, this game looks like it's sheer playability from the get go, will get. LS:)
