Windows Vista is easier to use and functionally different from XP - it is not just aestetics: metadata on all control panels (he typed "game" and filtered to only game-related control panels), secure, parental control, breadcrumbs on all explorer windows, saved searches as shortcuts ("recently changed", etc), unified "connect to..." (compatible with everything from VPN, wifi, lan, etc ONE INTERFACE FOR ALL), and much more...

About the other thing you said:

You can run Vista FINE on an older computer... You can turn off the Glass material and the desktop composition engine. I run Vista just fine on a 1Ghz machine with a so-so video card.

OS X did with Postscript desktop rendering! It is going to be great to
have IE7 and finally have suque browsing like I already have with

they did with OS X will be great!

Finally, Windows will be able to do all the cool stuff OS X and Linux
have been doing for the past few years...You know...maybe I should just
buy an XBOX 360 for games and use Linux or Mac as my primary OS. Yes.
