Tina and Laura take a tour of
KEXP 90.3
, an independent radio station that streams live over the internet. No sponsors, no commercials just whatever the DJ wants to play, streaming out to a global audience.

I'm listening to KEXP right now. Thanks. I was a little thrown when I clicked the Subscribe button and couldn't figure out what I was choosing. No ipod, no other thing, WMV sounds like Media Player, but I wonder what happens with the feed. Ah, no problem, it's choose your video format. Wheww. I thought you were gonna take over my machine or wake me up with a feed every morning. Heh.

I thought the focus of this channel is to show how Microsoft technologies/products are being used to change the world. Jeff Sandquist said "10 is a place for people who want to use technology to change the world," but so far I just do not see it. We get a really good idea of what KEXP 90.3 is doing, but there is almost nothing about the technologies they are using to get the job done. We know they use SQL and ASP, but that is about it. Can we get a little more in-depth analysis of what technologies the are using? Also, can you edit the video a little differently, seems like you are trying to edit it like MTV would.
I like the site, very user friendly.

Not all codecs are available for WMP on the Mac and Microsoft has discontinued it for the Mac in favor of flip4mac which I must admit works fantastic.
If Microsoft would make WMP DRM available for the Mac I think you would see a lot of people switch from iTunes over to one of the more reasonably priced alternatives. I guess the same holds true for Apple licensing of the iTunes DRM.

I actually use flip4mac to view WMV on the mac. The quality is better than in Window Media Player for Mac. The problem is not all the codecs are out available for the Mac. I assume its the same for Linux. The other issue is plugin compatibility. With Safari on the Mac WMP displays in the browser about 80% of the time correctly and doesnt display in Firefox at all. So you end up launching an external viewer, which ruins the experience that we are getting.

Quicktime is easy and pulls turns out to be the most cross platform compatible format out there for video. The development video from Channel9 talked about how one of the goals was to be completely standards compliant and cross platform compatible (ie Mac, Linux, Windows). So the decision makes sense.

You're welcome, Laura.
I don't know if your show will be covering videogame developers (I would really like to see a Bungie tour =), but here's a website called, "Seattle Sputnik", which lists EVERY game developer in the state:
http://www.igda.org/seattle/index.htm
Finally, for a future (out of state) show...I think it would be awesome if there was an episode about Rooster Teeth Productions (near Austin, Texas), who of course, created "Red vs Blue."
Anyway, I'll post more ideas, when I can think of them.
P.S.-Bootstrap,
Yep, "Penny Arcade" is based in Seattle. That would be a cool show about them.

I can't wait either. The 30 seconds timeout bug kills my ASP.NET debugging. Somehow I had the wild idea that once installed I could choose between IE6 and IE7, or that I could just uninstall it.
If you, like me, don't have time to format your development computer, wait until next release.

Also, I'd like to be able to click a topic and drag it onto another IE window (I like multiple windows).
