The 20-Minute Twitter App

Mike Ormond’s
boss,
Marc
, challenged him to build a simple Silverlight kiosk type application that would display the latest tweets for a set of given keywords. “20mins of work,” said Marc. Well, it might have taken a bit longer than 20 minutes, but Mike O. and
MikeT
ended up building a little Twitter app that searches Twitter for specific terms and displays the results in Silverlight. Nothing too fancy – it just pulls the top 10 Twitter queries using
the Trends service
and displays the tweets associated with those terms on the page. The app cycles through each term every 20 seconds or so and you have to periodically refresh the page to see new terms appear when the Trends service updates. Still, it’s a pretty cool glimpse at what’s hot on Twitter…especially considering it was a rush job!
