HD View
is a new image viewer technology developed by Microsoft Research's
Interactive Visual Media Group
to aid in the display and interaction with very large images. (as in Gigapixel large which equates to
billions
of pixels)
Check out this cool video overview of creating and viewing
Gigapixel
images with HD View. There's a walkthrough of the image capturing process, stitching principles and comparisons with other technologies.
