It seems that nowadays everybody has a blog. Some of us even have video blogs- well, I guess that's a vlog. (Bit of trivia: Blog is actually short for "web log") Anyway, for those of you out there who may be considering starting a blog, or even if you just want tips from some seasoned professionals, this video is for you. There are so many choices one needs to make when blogging- and some fatal traps you might fall in to. So I hit the pavement to find out what it takes to have a successful blog and and just how to get started.

Hey Now Laura,

I watched the whole vid. It was good.

Thx,

Laura - Good video. Some things I would stress are important when blogging and trying to buid community:

Read and comment on other blogs in your niche. Read the WHOLE post and write a thoughful comment. People will see that you know what you are talking about and visit your site after reading your comments.

Respond to comments on your blog. The blog post should be the beginning of the conversation, and comments allow the readers to respond. With a good community you can get real value from comments.

i think the main thing besides all those useful tips is having something to blog about. the whole thing of blogging can easily be overrated because you simply can use a service like live spaces, myspace etc to write about the color of your socks in a horrible boring and grammatically wrong way everyday twice and still call it a blog.
How much of that Makers Mark did you knock back?? nice!

Thanks Laura... after seeing this i finally made my blog=)

Blogging does come down to having something to say, but in the same regard wanting to express as well as catalog these thoughts for others to see now or in the future. You could almost say it's like scrap-booking in some ways. To this point, I have found that simply sharing ones interests and points of view through this medium can be fun and worthwhile no matter how many readers or hits you receive.

Blog on all...
