Gamers with a heart!

I just had to share with you all a story that truly touched my heart (and I try not to let anything do that so this is huge). A good friend of mine- and HUGE gamer, has been anxiously awaiting the launch of the Wii so she could camp out in line, grab her new console and enjoy her wii-kend.

So she and her pals line up and they're group #595. Clearly this isn't at the front of the line. Anyway- as luck would have it- they got called up around 2:30 am because they are press, and she finally got her brand new Wii. So she's walking- nay, SKIPPING - home when she sees a mom sitting in line with two kids sleeping in her lap. Apparently it was one of the sons 11th birthday the next day and all his little heart wanted in this world was a Nintendo Wii. So....my friend sold her Wii for the same price she paid for it and went home Wii-less. She left with her sad Zelda game that she couldn't play...but made one kids eleventh birthday the BEST EVER. I love gamers Smiley

Awww. That's just wonderful...and makes me feel good too. I lined up at Nintendo World in Rockafeller center at 2:00am this Sunday to wait in line for my Wii. The store opened at 8:00am.

I left Nintendo World at 10:15 after buying a Wii and playing with the displays. I kicked around Rockafeller for about another hour after to check out the sights and sounds. As I pasted Nintendo World one last time on my way back to Penn station, a young lady started to follow me hurredly, so I stopped to talk with her.

She pleaded with me to sell my Wii to her. As it turned out, she had promised her 9 year old son she would get him a Wii on launch day, but Nintendo World...and every other place she knew of had just sold out. I gave it a moment of consideration...and ultimately decided to sell my brand new unopened Wii to her for retail price.

I left NY Wii-less, but felt good about myself. I did get something out of it though - the pretty young lady kissed me on the cheek as a thank you!

That's great. She showed a niceness that most wouldn't be able to. To put this in perspective... people were shooting each other to get a PS3. Think about it.

I agree you gamers have big heart. But, just to put it in perspective.

There are kids in these world, who will be starving even on their birthdays.
