I've been waiting for this for a long time. Jorrit Jongma has put together a package for (some) Windows Mobile phones that fakes the USB Internet connection into using the 802.11 radio as a wireless access point to the Internet. Tethering your phone with USB or Bluetooth isn't always an option. What if you want to get your Nintendo DS and a couple of laptops online while in the back of a car? Just make sure you have an unlimited data plan.

I tried it on my Sprint 8525 (HTC TyTn) and it worked great, I had everything in my house routing through my phone. It seems to cook the battery though, so you might want to keep a couple spares if you're using it on the road. This is an incredibly useful feature, let's hope it makes it into a future release of WinMo.

The real question is where did you get that Vista looking windows mobile UI? Good post!
I love the concept and you are absoluting right about rolling it into a future WinMo release.  As for needing an unlimited data plan...I wish the TeleCom folks would provide a day/24hr plan for unlimited data instead of sticking you with a monthly subscription...similiar to how some of the wifi hotspot providers do.
You definitely want to ensure you have an unlimited data plan; otherwise you will suffer the fate of Mr. Factory Worker who did not understand the impact of his voracious appetite for downloading via his Vodafone service: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstories/2007/12/24/worker-runs-up-27k-mobile-bill-89520-20265079/,

JimCanuck guess what i did the same thing.  my landlord has for some reason decided not to put internet at in our house, im in a house share where everyone each has there room. so i added a £7 unlimited bolt on so that i can have the internet on my laptop.  few days later i ring up just to make sure they are not charging me.  they tell me i owe them £900!!  anyway we have sorted things out so now i owe them £500.  however i am still unsure how to pay this. ive only just moved out of my parents house, got a new job 1st time fending for myself now im in the pits, gonna have to pay bank charges for going over my overdraft. (just imagine after xmas period u get charged £500!).

if any of you want to know what o2 charge without the bolt on its £3 per MB.

With bolt on you have a limit of 200mb a month.  so im not touching BBC Iplayer, or any HD quicktime trailers.

i still love O2 anyway.

anyway, just wanna say this usb mobile thing is already on Windows Mobile version 6.

USB tethering is on Windows Mobile 6 (and 5) but this doesn't use USB, it uses 802.11 like a wireless router.
Hopefully (if you read my blog) you know how cool the Internet Sharing feature is on Windows Mobile.

oh i see it uses wifi (i didnt even read the article properly, yet again i looked at the pretty pictures). yea you are correct Larry, wm6 uses USB as well as bluetooth (which i use when i cannot find the stupid usb cable). Only just clicked on the link to the program and was suprised to find that it links to xda-developers website. its my favourite website, amazing programs and utilities for your phone as well as customisations.

anyway aside from that, like farina at the top there, i too am intrigued as to how you get that lovely looking vista theme. (ill check out xda-developers.com) Lovin the new look of On10 by the way.

Why didn't you answer my question about your mobile UI?
